Principal Engineer – Homologation Testing & Vehicle Certification

Job Description:

Roles & Responsibilities include:

Lead and manage the full vehicle homologation and type approval certification, ensuring
adherence to global quality standards and certification processes.
2. Develop and implement long-term strategic plans for improving the quality and efficiency of
testing and certification services.
3. Align the department's goals with the overall organisation vision and objectives to drive
sustainable growth.
4. Planning and setting up of additional testing and certification infrastructure for homologation
and type approval testing.
5. Ensure compliance with international standards (ISO, SAE, IATF) and regulatory
requirements for all automotive components and systems.
6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design testing protocols and ensure the reliability,
safety, and performance of automotive products.
7. Continuously evaluate and improve testing methodologies, procedures, and equipment to
ensure best-in-class quality and efficiency.
8. Identify opportunities for automation and digital transformation within the certification and
testing processes.
9. Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams, helping them resolve
complex challenges in vehicle certification, safety, and performance.
10. Stay up to date with emerging automotive technologies (electric vehicles, autonomous
driving, etc.) and incorporate them into the testing and certification framework.
11. Liaise with automotive manufacturers, startups, regulatory bodies, and clients to maintain a
strong network of partners in the industry.
12. Represent the organization in industry forums, technical committees, and standard-setting
bodies.
13. Build capacity of testing and homologation team through training and mentoring, along with
understanding of national and international standards.
14. Partner with other NABL labs and other test agencies for witness testing / third party testing and certification activities

Qualification / Experience:
 Bachelor's or master’s degree in Automobile Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a
related field.
 35+ years of experience in the automobile industry, with a strong focus on homologation
and certification testing, quality assurance, and standard formation.
 Proven track record of leadership in managing engineering teams and complex projects.
 Strong know-how of both traditional and emerging automotive technologies, including IC
engines, EV, off-road equipment and machineries, and ADAS systems.
