Job Description:
Role Overview
The Purchase Manager / Purchase Engineer will be responsible for end-to-end procurement activities including vendor identification, RFQ generation, price negotiation, order placement, and delivery coordination for all projectrelated materials and services.
Key Responsibilities
● Manage procurement of electrical equipment, materials, and civil items for EPC projects. ● Prepare and float RFQs (Request for Quotations) to approved vendors; evaluate techno-commercial bids. ● Negotiate pricing, delivery terms, and payment schedules with vendors and suppliers. ● Raise Purchase Orders (PO) and ensure timely follow-up for delivery as per project schedule. ● Coordinate with stores, project, and finance teams for GRN, invoice processing, and payment clearance. ● Maintain vendor database and develop new vendors for power sector materials. ● Ensure compliance with project BOQ and technical specifications during procurement. ● Track material delivery status and resolve supply bottlenecks proactively. ● Conduct vendor audits and ensure quality of supplied materials meets project standards. ● Maintain and update procurement MIS including PO status, pending deliveries, and cost tracking. ● Coordinate import procurement (custom clearance, freight forwarding) for specialised equipment if required. ● Support management in vendor pre-qualification and rate contract finalisation.
Key Materials / Equipment Handled
● Power Transformers, Distribution Transformers, Current Transformers (CT), Potential Transformers (PT). ● Circuit Breakers (SF6 / VCB / ACB), Isolators, Lightning Arresters, Capacitor Banks. ● Control & Relay Panels, SCADA / RTU Equipment, Metering Panels. ● EHV & HV Cables (XLPE, PILC), Cable Accessories, Jointing Kits. ● Transmission Line Materials – Conductors (ACSR, AAAC), Hardware Fittings, Insulators, Towers. ● Civil & structural materials – TMT bars, cement, structural steel for substation buildings. ● Test Equipment – Megger, Doble, Motwane, Raytec (hiring/procurement coordination).
Technical & Functional Skills Required ● Good understanding of EHV electrical equipment and power sector materials. ● Experience reading technical specifications, single-line diagrams, and BOQ documents. ● Strong negotiation, vendor management, and cost-reduction skills. ● Proficiency in SAP / ERP systems and MS Office (Excel, Word). ● Knowledge of GST, taxation, and import-export procedures (preferred).
Qualifications & Experience
● B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. ● MBA in Supply Chain / Operations (preferred but not mandatory). ● 4–8 years of experience in procurement within EPC / power / infrastructure sector. ● Prior experience handling procurement for substation or transmission line projects preferred.

● Cost savings vs. budgeted procurement cost. ● On-time delivery rate – material availability as per project schedule. ● Vendor development – addition of new qualified vendors per quarter. ● PO processing turnaround time. ● Zero supply-related project stoppages.
